Copying Another Active Model

Create a new model as a copy of another model.

Prerequisites

The repository which contains the model to be copied is running.

The repository which the model should be created in is running.

Context

You want to build on a model's modeling. You want to copy this model.

You can open the wizards with the New command in the application menu or with the Create a new model... link on the start page.

The wizard appears and leads you through the four steps to create your new model.

Step 1: Create a new model

How to proceed
  1. Select the repository which contains the model you want to create in the Repository drop-down list. If you have called the dialog from an open model, this model's repository is pre-selected.
  2. Enter the name you want in the Name field. This name must be unique within the repository.
  3. Enter the password which the administrator should use for logging-in twice in the top password field. If you do not enter a password, the password of the copied model is adopted for the new model. It is not possible to create a model without a model administrator password.
  4. Enter the repository password for the repository selected above in the bottom password field.
  5. The Next button takes you to Step 2.

Step 2: Select a source for the new model

  1. Select the source for the new modelTo do this, click on Another Active Model.

    This automatically takes you to step 3.

Step 3: Select another model as a copy template

How to proceed
  1. Select a model from the list.
  2. Enter the password for the repository administrator of the repository which contains the selected model and the password for the model administrator in the Passwords area. You only need to enter the model administrator password if you added a new password in step 1. If you did not add a new password, the old one is used.
  3. The Next button takes you to Step 4.

Step 4: Ready to create a new model

How to proceed
  1. Check the information you entered.
  2. If everything is alright, click on the Finish button.
  3. The model is created. This may take some time.

  4. You will then be logged-in to the new model and can start modeling.
